Note: I waited 13 years for the next book. I gave up. 🙂
100 years before “A Game of Thrones” newly annointed hedge knight Dunk, who is 1 inch shorter than 7 feet, has just buried the knight he squired for many years.
Dunk now has three horses: The very old Chesnut, the easy to ride SweetFoot, and a war horse Thunder.
He also has a long sword and enough money to get food and ale and a place to stay for one night.
Spotting an inn, Dunk asked the stable boy to watch after them while he gets a bite to eat. The stable boy’s name was Egg, and he was bald, about 10 years old, and very skinny.

Oh to see what happens you will have to read the book. 🙂
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is a terrific book filled with intrigue, fighting, and death (it IS George R.R. Martin after all). Along the way we learn about Dunk and Egg, with shocking surprises, familiar places, and family names. I loved it!
More George R.R. Martin…
