Book Review: “The Lightning Rod” by Brad Meltzer

Genre: Thriller

This is the second book in the Zig & Nola Series

Nola is the “Artist in Residence” for the U.S. Army. Her job is to travel where something important / horrible happened and draw what she sees.

Nola is also a well-trained operative.

Zig worked for many years as a mortician at the Dover Air Force Base mortuary. His job there was to care for the bodies of military personnel killed in action, or terror, or…

As a kid, Nola saved Zig’s daughter’s life, so Zig has a soft spot in his heart for Nola even though they are not in touch and are not “friends” by any stretch of the imagination.

2 years ago, Zig left Dover to work in a small private mortuary. Mostly to get his life together after so much heartache.

One day, Dover called and asked for his help to take care of a recently murdered ex-Army soldier, Archie Mint, whose funeral will be close to Zig’s new mortuary.

Zig agrees to help.

Then Zig finds something “interesting”.

Then Nola shows up at the funeral.

Then all hell breaks loose as……

Oh, to see what happens, you can read the book. 🙂

“The Lightning Rod” is a terrific, fast-paced, thriller by one of the best thriller writers of our time. Make sure you are ready (have eaten, gone to the bathroom, etc) for the last 100 pages as you will not be able to put the book down!

Wow!
