“In Plain Sight” by C.J. Box
This is the 6th book in the Joe Pickett series.
Joe Pickett is in the cross-hairs of a killer and embroiled in a feud between the brothers (Hank, Arlen, and Wyatt) of a long time Saddlestring family. Their mother, Opal Scarlett, has disappeared (and is presumed dead) and the fight for the ranch has begun.
Recently released convict, John Wayne Keeley, is on a killing spree on his way to Wyoming to make Joe Pickett suffer for the death of his daughter a couple of books ago.
After a relaxing evening at home, the Pickett family hears a thump on the front door. Joe investigates and finds an endangered Millers Weasel dead and stuck to his door with a knife. Escalating “pranks” force the Pickett family to move in with Missy and Bud to remain safe.
Joe does what Joe does and pushes the limits of his new boss….and gets fired!
The Scarlett feud intensifies and Keeley is hired by both Hank and Arlen, which gets him closer to the Picketts…..and revenge.
As a storm rages, the climax to the feud and Joe’s encounter with Keeley plays out on the Scarlett ranch. Blood flows.
To see how this all works out…you will have to read “In Plain Sight”.
Good book, fast, exciting, read with a horrible twist that will leave you dumbfounded.
