April Pickett, the adopted daughter of Joe and Marybeth, left three months ago with pro rodeo cowboy, Dallas Cates.

Since April is 18, she is free to go even though Joe hates Dallas (he was implicated, but never convicted, in a case while in high school).

Following the events of “Stone Cold”, Nate is just now being released from prison. The FBI wants him “free” so he can act as bait for the capture of his old boss, Wolfgang Templeton.  When Wolfgang sends his killers to get Nate, the FBI will swoop in, hopefully in time to save Nate, but, if not, they really don’t care. To gain his release, Nate has to, reluctantly, agree to remain unarmed and to stay away from Joe and his family.

Nate and Liv Brannan have started a falconry business, Yarak, Inc., and already have a customer. They visit the ranch near Saddlestring, Wyoming where Nate is shot and Liv is taken hostage. Nate is airlifted to the hospital in Billings, Montana and may not survive.

April is found beaten on the side of the road. She is unconscious and is airlifted to the hospital in Billings, Montana. With severe brain swelling, she may not survive.  Joe suspects Dallas Cates and starts investigating the entire, white trash, Cates family.

What he finds is terrifying.

To see what happens, you will have to read “Endangered”.  Blaze is.  🙂
