King Cyrus trusted Pactyes, his newly appointed Overseer of the Imperial Mint and Gold Refineries……until he couldn’t.
Pactyes had stolen, and hidden, tons and tons of gold……replacing them with gold covered lead!
That golden treasure was never found.
Sam and Remi Fargo armed with an expensive bottle of 2000 Mouton Rothschild Pauillac for a man, St. Julien Perlmutter, they have never met (we Cussler readers know him well, however, as does Dirk Pitt) but who may be able to help them find a treasure lost in 546 BC.
A treasure that, 10 years ago, lead to Sam and Remi……well…..being Sam and Remi Fargo.
Before he can help, St. Julien is anxious to hear the story of 10 years ago when Sam and Remi first met and traveled to Greece to……..
Oh, that story started on page 26 and ended on page 435. To find out what happens in-between, you will have to read the book. 🙂
“Wrath of Poseidon” is a fun Sam and Remi Fargo adventure and, as it turns out, a (if somewhat over-long) story of how they met, and their first treasure hunt. It also gives us a bit more information on the argon laser, how they started their foundation, and how they met Selma.
Although it drags at times, where most Cussler books zoom along like a rollercoaster, it is still a fun read!
Clive shows up once, very briefly. 🙂
Lori bought the hardcover the same year Clive Cussler passed away…..:-(
I waited a few years to read this book, which shockingly was missing about 100 pages, and had to finish it in paperback.
More Cussler and Burcell…..
